Possible Causes

Blocked drain filter in sump,Clogged or kinked drain hose,Obstruction in drain pump impeller,Faulty drain pump motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and turn off the water supply.

  • Clean the filters: Open the door and remove the lower basket. Twist and lift out the coarse and fine filters from the sump. Rinse thoroughly under hot water, removing food debris and grease.
  • Check the sump area: With filters removed, inspect the sump for glass, bones, or other debris. Carefully remove any foreign objects.
  • Inspect the drain pump impeller: On many Hotpoint models, you can access the drain pump from inside the tub through the sump opening or from the bottom. Remove the pump cover (if present) and check that the impeller spins freely. Remove any obstructions.
  • Check the drain hose: Pull the dishwasher out slightly and inspect the drain hose for kinks or crushing. Detach it from the sink trap or garbage disposal and flush it with water to clear blockages.
  • Test the pump: With power still off, disconnect the pump wiring and measure resistance across the terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed pump. If the pump hums but does not turn during operation, it is likely seized and needs replacement.

If the A03 error persists after cleaning and hose checks, replace the drain pump or contact a technician.
