How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power.
- Locate the sensor: On many Hotpoint dishwashers, the turbidity or optical sensor is mounted on the side of the sump or tub base, accessible from underneath.
- Clean the sensor window: Remove the sensor (usually held by a bayonet or clip). Clean the clear plastic window with warm soapy water and a soft cloth to remove grease film and deposits. Do not scratch the surface.
- Inspect wiring: Check the connector and harness for corrosion or loose pins. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Reinstall and test: Refit the sensor, restore power, and run a short cycle. If A06 returns, the sensor may be defective.
Replacing the turbidity sensor is typically straightforward, but if the error persists after replacement, the control board may need professional evaluation.
