Possible Causes
Failed drying fan motor,Blocked vent duct,Faulty vent flap actuator,Loose wiring to fan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power.
- Check drying performance: If dishes are consistently wet and A09 appears, suspect the drying fan system.
- Access the fan: On many Hotpoint models, the fan is located in the door or at the top side of the tub. Remove the inner door panel to access the fan housing.
- Inspect for obstructions: Check the vent duct and fan blades for lint, plastic wrap, or other debris. Clean thoroughly.
- Test the fan motor: Disconnect the fan connector and measure resistance across the motor. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If possible, briefly power the fan with a suitable test voltage (only if you are competent and safe to do so).
- Check vent flap: Ensure any mechanical vent flap moves freely and is not stuck closed.
Replace the drying fan assembly if the motor is defective. If the fan is good but not powered, the control board or wiring may require professional diagnosis.
