Possible Causes
Open or shorted NTC temperature sensor,Loose NTC connector,Wiring fault between NTC and control board,Control board analog input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power.
- Locate the NTC: The temperature sensor is usually mounted in the sump or heater housing.
- Test the sensor: Disconnect the NTC and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare with Hotpoint specifications (commonly 10–50 kΩ). Infinite or near-zero resistance indicates a fault.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the NTC to the control board for damage or loose connectors.
Replace the NTC if faulty. If the sensor and wiring are good, the control board may need replacement by a technician.
