Possible Causes
Faulty water softener valve, Blocked salt tank or resin, Defective regeneration flow meter, Control board misconfiguration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and close the water tap.
- Check salt level: Open the salt reservoir cap in the base of the tub and ensure it is filled with dishwasher salt. Top up if low and wipe away any spilled salt from the tub.
- Inspect softener valve: Access the base or side of the dishwasher to locate the water softener valve. Check wiring and connectors, and listen for valve operation during regeneration. Replace if silent or open-circuit.
- Clean salt tank area: If there is heavy salt crust or contamination around the salt tank, clean carefully and ensure the cap seals properly.
- Reset hardness setting: Refer to the user manual to correctly set the water hardness level in the control menu. Incorrect settings can trigger E13 on some models.
If E13 continues, the internal softener system or control board may require specialist service.
