Possible Causes
Failed circulation pump motor, Jammed impeller, Seized motor bearings, Faulty motor capacitor (if fitted)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher and turn off the water supply. Expect some residual water in the sump.
- Listen for motor operation: Start a cycle and listen. A humming noise without water movement suggests a jammed or failed circulation pump.
- Check for obstructions: Remove lower spray arm and sump filter. Look into the sump for broken glass, bones, or other debris that could jam the impeller. Remove carefully.
- Access circulation pump: Lay the dishwasher on its back and remove the base panel. Locate the circulation pump attached to the sump. Inspect for leaks or burn marks.
- Test impeller and bearings: Try turning the impeller by hand. It should rotate smoothly. If stiff or seized, replace the circulation pump assembly.
- Motor capacitor (if present): Some Iberna pumps use a start capacitor. Check for bulging or leakage and test capacitance. Replace if out of spec.
Because the circulation pump is central to wash performance, replacement is often the most effective repair when E8 occurs.
