Possible Causes

Defective regeneration valve, Blocked softener resin tank, Faulty softener sensor, Wiring fault to softener assembly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and close the water tap.

  • Check salt level: Open the salt reservoir cap in the tub and ensure it is filled with dishwasher salt. Wipe away any spilled salt from the tub bottom.
  • Inspect for blockages: Remove the side panel to access the water softener/side tank. Look for heavy limescale or salt bridging. Carefully break up salt bridges with a non-metallic tool.
  • Test regeneration valve: Locate the small regeneration valve/solenoid on the softener assembly. Check coil resistance with a multimeter. Replace if open or shorted.
  • Check wiring: Inspect connectors and harness from the valve and softener sensor to the control board.
  • Run a test cycle: After corrections, run a full cycle and monitor for E10. Persistent errors may require replacement of the entire softener assembly or control board.
