Possible Causes

Failed drying fan motor, Blocked condenser duct, Faulty fan triac on control board, Wiring fault to fan

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher before accessing the top or side panels.

  • Confirm poor drying: After a full cycle, check if dishes are wet and the interior walls are not warm. E12 often accompanies these symptoms.
  • Access fan unit: On many Ilve models, the drying fan is located behind the top or side panel. Remove the panel to expose the fan housing and duct.
  • Inspect and clean: Check the air duct and condenser channels for lint, grease, or scale. Clean thoroughly with warm soapy water and allow to dry.
  • Test fan motor: Disconnect the fan and measure motor resistance. Apply appropriate test voltage only if you are qualified. If the fan does not run or is noisy, replace the fan assembly.
  • Check wiring and board: Inspect connectors and harness to the fan. If the fan is good but never receives power, the control board's fan driver circuit may be defective and the main control module may need replacement.
