Possible Causes
Failed dispenser solenoid or wax motor, Jammed dispenser lid, Broken dispenser spring, Wiring fault to dispenser
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher before working on the door.
- Check dispenser manually: Open the door and inspect the detergent dispenser. Ensure the lid moves freely and is not obstructed by detergent buildup.
- Clean dispenser: Remove caked detergent with warm water and a soft brush. Ensure the spring mechanism is free.
- Access actuator: Remove the inner door panel to expose the back of the dispenser. Check the actuator (solenoid or wax motor) for signs of overheating.
- Electrical test: Measure coil resistance and compare to spec. If open or shorted, replace the dispenser assembly.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the control board to the dispenser for breaks or loose connectors.
