Possible Causes
Blocked drain filter, Clogged drain hose, Defective drain pump, Obstructed air break or sink connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher and turn off the water supply before working inside the tub or under the unit.
- Clean the sump filter: Open the door, remove the lower rack, and twist out the fine and coarse filters in the sump. Rinse thoroughly under running water and remove any glass, food, or labels from the sump area.
- Check drain hose: Inspect the hose where it connects to the sink trap or garbage disposer. Remove the hose and flush it with water to clear grease or food buildup. Ensure there are no kinks and that the hose forms a proper high loop.
- Inspect sink connection: If connected to a disposer, confirm the knockout plug has been removed. Clean the spigot on the sink trap.
- Test drain function: Restore power and run a cancel/drain program. Listen for the drain pump. If it hums but does not pump, the impeller may be jammed.
- Access drain pump: Disconnect power again, remove the lower front or bottom panel, locate the drain pump on the sump, and check for debris in the impeller. If the impeller is damaged or the motor is open-circuit, replace the drain pump assembly.
