Possible Causes
Blocked pressure chamber or air trap, Faulty pressure switch, Stuck water inlet valve, Control board sensing error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and close the water tap before opening panels.
- Inspect water level: If the tub is overfilled, manually remove excess water with a container and sponge.
- Clean pressure chamber: Many Ilve dishwashers use a side-mounted pressure chamber/air trap connected to a pressure switch. Remove the left side panel, locate the chamber, and clean out any grease or scale using hot water and a small brush.
- Check pressure hose: Ensure the thin hose from the sump or chamber to the pressure switch is not kinked, blocked, or split.
- Test pressure switch: Disconnect the switch and gently blow into the hose; you should hear clicks. Check continuity across the switch terminals as you apply pressure. Replace if it does not switch reliably.
- Inspect inlet valve: If water continues to enter when the machine is off, the water inlet valve is stuck open and must be replaced.
- Control issue: If all hydraulic parts are clean and functional, the main control board may be misreading the level signal and could require replacement.
