Possible Causes
Defective circulation pump motor, Jammed impeller due to debris, Faulty start capacitor (if fitted), Wiring fault between pump and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher before accessing the base or pump assembly.
- Confirm lack of circulation: Start a wash program and listen. If you only hear filling and then a low hum or nothing at all, the circulation pump may not be running.
- Check for blockages: Remove lower rack and filters. Inspect the sump for broken glass, bones, or plastic that could jam the impeller.
- Access pump: Remove the lower front or bottom panel. Locate the circulation pump attached to the sump. Disconnect hoses and wiring as needed (have towels ready for water spillage).
- Inspect impeller: Check that the impeller spins freely by hand. Remove any debris. If the impeller is seized or the shaft is loose, replace the pump.
- Electrical test: Measure motor winding resistance and compare to Ilve specs. If open or shorted, replace the pump. If equipped with a start capacitor, test its capacitance and replace if out of tolerance.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the pump, ensure all clamps are tight, restore power, and run a test cycle to confirm E6 is cleared.
