Dishwasher trips the household circuit breaker or RCD during operation.

Critical safety warning: Repeated tripping indicates a potentially dangerous fault. Disconnect the appliance and do not repeatedly reset the breaker.

Visual inspection (only if competent):

• Remove lower panels and inspect for signs of water leaks onto electrical parts.
• Check the mains cable and interference filter for burn marks or damage.

Common culprits:

• Heater: often trips during heating phase. Test heater insulation with a megohmmeter if available; replace if leaking to earth.
• Pumps: if trip occurs at start of wash or drain, suspect circulation or drain pump.

Because of the shock risk, diagnosis and repair of earth leakage faults should be carried out by a qualified electrician or appliance technician.
