Possible Causes

Failed NTC temperature sensor in sump, Loose or corroded NTC connector, Broken wiring between NTC and control board, Water ingress into sensor connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect mains power and allow the machine to cool before working near the heater or sump.

Locate the NTC:

  • Remove the lower front panel or side panel to access the sump area.
  • The NTC (temperature sensor) is usually clipped into the side of the plastic sump or integrated into a small probe housing with two wires.

Check connections:

  • Unplug the NTC connector and inspect for corrosion or moisture. Dry thoroughly and clean contacts if needed.
  • Ensure the wiring harness is not pinched or damaged along its route to the control board.

Test the sensor:

  • Measure resistance across the NTC with a multimeter at room temperature. Typical values are in the 40–60 kΩ range (check Indesit service data for your model).
  • If the reading is open circuit, shorted, or far outside spec, replace the NTC sensor.

Reassemble and test:

  • Refit the sensor securely into the sump, ensuring the O‑ring or seal is correctly seated.
  • Reconnect wiring, refit panels, restore power, and run a hot cycle to confirm normal operation.
