Possible Causes
Clogged drain filter, Blocked drain hose, Obstructed garbage disposal inlet, Weak drain pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working under the sink or under the dishwasher.
- 1. Clean filters: Remove and rinse the coarse and fine filters in the bottom of the tub to clear food debris.
- 2. Check sink and disposal: If the drain hose connects to a garbage disposal, ensure the knockout plug was removed at installation. Run the disposal to clear any blockage.
- 3. Inspect drain hose routing: Ensure the hose has a high loop under the counter and is not kinked or crushed. Detach the hose at the sink end and flush with hot water.
- 4. Test drain pump: Start a drain or cancel cycle and listen for the pump. If it hums but does not move water, the impeller may be blocked or the pump failing. Access the pump and inspect.
- 5. Replace drain pump if needed: Install a new Insignia-compatible drain pump if the existing one is weak or seized.
Persistent drainage issues can lead to odors and leaks, so address them promptly.
