Possible Causes

Clogged or kinked inlet hose, Failed water inlet valve, Low household water pressure, Faulty flow meter or pressure sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher or switch off the circuit breaker, and turn off the water supply before working on the unit.

  • 1. Check household water supply: Ensure the shutoff valve (usually under the sink) feeding the Insignia dishwasher is fully open. Verify other faucets have normal pressure.
  • 2. Inspect inlet hose: Pull the dishwasher out slightly and inspect the braided or plastic inlet hose for kinks, sharp bends, or crushing. Straighten or re-route as needed.
  • 3. Clean inlet screen: Turn off water, disconnect the hose from the dishwasher’s water inlet valve. Inside the valve fitting there is a small mesh screen. Rinse debris under running water and reinstall.
  • 4. Test a quick cycle: Restore water and power, run a short cycle. If E1 returns and you still hear no filling, the water inlet valve or flow sensor may be defective.
  • 5. Replace inlet valve if needed: Remove the lower access panel, locate the water inlet valve on the left or right underside. Disconnect wiring and hose, remove mounting screws, and install a compatible Insignia water inlet valve. Reassemble and test.

If you are not comfortable working with plumbing or live wiring, contact a qualified appliance technician.
