Possible Causes
Failed vent fan motor, Blocked vent duct, Faulty vent wax motor or actuator, Wiring issue to vent assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the door or side panels.
- 1. Check for blocked vent: Inspect the vent outlet on the inner door for obstructions such as labels, plastic, or food debris. Clean gently.
- 2. Listen for fan operation: During the drying phase, listen for a small fan running. If silent, the fan motor may be failed.
- 3. Access vent assembly: Remove the inner door panel to expose the vent and fan assembly. Check wiring connections and look for signs of overheating or melting.
- 4. Test fan motor: With power off, disconnect the fan and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Also spin the fan by hand to ensure it is not seized.
- 5. Replace vent/fan assembly: Install a new Insignia-compatible vent fan assembly if defective. Ensure all seals are properly seated to prevent steam leaks.
If E12 continues after vent repair, the control board’s fan driver circuit may be faulty and should be evaluated by a professional.
