Possible Causes

Failed dispenser solenoid or wax motor, Jammed dispenser door, Broken dispenser latch, Wiring issue to dispenser

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the inner door panel.

  • 1. Inspect dispenser door: Open the dishwasher door and check that the detergent cup door moves freely by hand and is not obstructed by racks or large dishes.
  • 2. Clean detergent area: Remove caked-on detergent or rinse aid residue from the dispenser and surrounding area with warm water.
  • 3. Access dispenser assembly: Remove the inner door panel screws to expose the back of the dispenser. Check wiring connections to the dispenser actuator.
  • 4. Test actuator: Disconnect the actuator (solenoid or wax motor) and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates failure. Also inspect for signs of overheating.
  • 5. Replace dispenser assembly: If the actuator or latch is defective, replace the entire detergent dispenser assembly with an Insignia-compatible part. Reassemble and test.

If E19 persists after dispenser replacement, the control board output to the dispenser may be faulty and require professional diagnosis.
