Possible Causes

Leaking door gasket, Cracked or loose circulation hose, Faulty inlet valve not closing, Activated float switch in base pan

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher and shut off the water supply immediately to prevent flooding.

  • 1. Check for visible leaks: Open the door and inspect the door gasket for tears, deformation, or food buildup. Clean the gasket and door mating surface with warm soapy water.
  • 2. Inspect base pan: Remove the lower access panel and shine a flashlight into the base. If water is present, carefully soak it up with towels or a sponge. The float switch in the base may be triggered by this water.
  • 3. Run a short test: With the base dry, restore power and water, then run a quick cycle while observing underneath. Look for drips from hoses, the sump, or the circulation pump housing.
  • 4. Tighten or replace hoses: If you see a leak from a clamp or hose, tighten the clamp or replace the damaged hose with an Insignia-compatible circulation or drain hose.
  • 5. Check inlet valve: If water continues to enter the tub even when the dishwasher is off, the water inlet valve is stuck open and must be replaced.

Persistent E4 errors or leaks from the tub seam or pump housing should be addressed by a qualified technician.
