Possible Causes
Blocked pressure hose, Faulty pressure switch or water level sensor, Debris in sump affecting level reading, Control board sensing error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and turn off water before removing panels.
- 1. Clean sump area: Remove lower rack and filters. Check the sump for debris that could interfere with water level sensing. Clean thoroughly.
- 2. Inspect pressure hose: Access the side or bottom of the tub to locate the small rubber or plastic hose running from the sump to the pressure switch. Ensure it is not kinked, pinched, or clogged with grease or debris. Detach and blow through it to clear blockages.
- 3. Check pressure switch: With power off, disconnect the wiring from the pressure switch. Inspect for corrosion or loose terminals. If available, test continuity while gently blowing into the pressure port to see if the switch changes state.
- 4. Reseat connections: Reconnect the hose and wiring securely. Make sure the switch is firmly mounted and not tilted.
- 5. Test cycle: Restore power and run a normal cycle. If E5 returns, the pressure switch or control board may need replacement.
Because water level control is critical to safe operation, consider professional diagnosis if you are unsure about testing the pressure switch or control board.
