Possible Causes
Partially blocked spray arms, Restricted sump or filter, Weak circulation pump, Air in circulation system
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and water if removing components.
- 1. Clean spray arms: Remove upper and lower spray arms by unscrewing or unclipping them. Rinse under running water and use a toothpick to clear mineral deposits or food from each jet hole.
- 2. Clean filters and sump: Remove and wash the coarse and fine filters. Inspect the sump inlet to the circulation pump for debris and remove any obstructions.
- 3. Check water level: Start a cycle and let it fill. Open the door briefly and verify that water level reaches just below the bottom of the door opening. If low, check inlet valve and pressure.
- 4. Inspect circulation pump: If cleaning does not restore pressure, access the circulation pump under the unit. Check for partial blockages in the pump housing and hoses.
- 5. Replace weak pump: If the pump runs but is noisy or weak even when clean, replace the circulation pump assembly with an Insignia-compatible unit.
Persistent E8 errors after cleaning and pump replacement may indicate a control or sensor issue requiring professional service.
