• Locate the drain valve: Find the automatic drain valve assembly under the tank or at the drain outlet.
• Inspect for mechanical obstruction: Remove the valve cover and check for debris or scale preventing the gate or flapper from moving freely. Clean thoroughly.
• Test solenoid or actuator: With power off, check the solenoid coil for continuity. With power on (qualified personnel only), verify that the solenoid energizes during drain. Replace if inoperative.
• Check linkage and position switch: Ensure the linkage between solenoid and valve gate is intact and adjusted so the valve fully opens and closes. Test any position switch for proper operation.

Improper drain valve operation can cause both flooding and incomplete draining; verify full travel and sealing after repair.
