Possible Causes
Failed wash (circulation) pump motor, Jammed impeller, Seized pump bearings, Loose wiring to circulation pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and turn off water before pulling the dishwasher out.
- Listen during wash: After filling, the dishwasher should produce a steady spray sound. A low hum or silence indicates a circulation issue.
- Check for blockages: Remove lower rack, spray arm, and filters. Inspect the sump for broken glass, bones, or other debris that could jam the pump.
- Access pump: Remove the lower kick plate and slide the dishwasher out. Locate the circulation pump on the sump assembly. Inspect wiring and connectors.
- Impeller test: With power off, try to rotate the pump impeller by hand (from the back or via access port). If seized, replace the circulation pump or sump/pump assembly.
- Replace pump: Install a JennAir-compatible circulation pump, ensuring all seals and clamps are properly seated to prevent leaks.
Note: A failing pump may trip the breaker or emit a burning smell; discontinue use immediately if this occurs.
