Possible Causes
Open or shorted thermistor, Damaged wiring to thermistor, Corroded thermistor connector, Failed main control temperature circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and water supply before accessing internal components.
- Check incoming water temperature: Run hot water at the kitchen sink for 30–60 seconds. It should be around 120°F (49°C). If much lower, adjust your water heater.
- Access thermistor: Remove the lower kick plate and, if needed, pull the dishwasher out slightly. The thermistor is typically mounted in the sump area near the circulation pump.
- Inspect wiring: Check the thermistor harness for cuts, pinches, or loose connectors. Reseat the connector at the thermistor and at the main control.
- Resistance check (advanced): With power off and wires disconnected, measure thermistor resistance with a multimeter. Compare to JennAir specs (commonly ~48kΩ at 77°F, but verify for your model). Replace if out of range or open/shorted.
- Replace thermistor: If wiring is good and readings are incorrect, install a new temperature sensor/thermistor in the sump.
Note: If a new thermistor does not resolve F3E1, the main control board may have a faulty temperature circuit.
