Possible Causes
Misaligned door latch, Broken latch mechanism, Failed door switch, Loose latch mounting screws
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before working on the door latch.
- Check door closure: Ensure racks are fully pushed in and no large items are blocking the door. Try closing the door firmly; listen for a solid click.
- Inspect latch strike: Examine the metal strike on the tub frame. If bent or loose, adjust or tighten screws so the latch engages fully.
- Door switch test: Remove the inner door panel to access the latch assembly. With power off, disconnect the door switch wires and test for continuity when the latch is closed. Replace the latch/switch assembly if it does not close electrically.
- Check for wear: If the plastic latch hook is worn or broken, replace the entire door latch assembly with a JennAir-compatible part.
Note: Do not slam the door; this can damage the latch and control panel over time.
