Possible Causes
Open or shorted drain pump motor, Loose pump wiring, Failed control triac/relay for drain circuit, Obstruction causing pump overload
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and remove standing water with a sponge or cup.
- Listen for pump: Start a drain or cancel cycle. If you do not hear the pump running, suspect an electrical issue.
- Access pump: Remove the lower kick plate and locate the drain pump on the sump. Check the wiring connector for secure fit and signs of burning.
- Resistance test: With power off and wires disconnected, measure pump motor resistance. Compare to JennAir specs; replace if open or very low (shorted).
- Check for obstructions: Remove the pump (usually held by a twist-lock or screws) and inspect the impeller for broken glass, bones, or other debris. Clear any blockage.
- Replace pump: If the motor is electrically faulty or noisy, install a new drain pump.
Note: If a new pump does not run and wiring is intact, the main control board drain circuit may be defective.
