Possible Causes
Open booster heating element, Tripped high-limit thermostat on booster, Faulty booster temperature probe, Defective booster contactor or relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the booster to cool completely. Booster heaters operate at high temperatures and voltages.
- 1. Check high-limit reset: Locate the booster heater (often a separate stainless steel tank). Find the manual reset high-limit thermostat on the booster shell and press the reset button if tripped.
- 2. Inspect wiring and contactor: Look for burned wires, loose terminals, or a stuck contactor supplying power to the booster element.
- 3. Test booster element: With power off and wires removed, measure resistance across the booster element terminals. An open reading indicates a failed element.
- 4. Verify booster NTC: Measure the resistance of the booster temperature sensor and compare to Jet Tech specifications. Replace if out of range.
- 5. Control and relay check: If all components test good, the control board or booster relay may not be energizing the heater.
- When to call a technician: Due to the high power of booster heaters, replacement of elements, contactors, or controls should be done by a licensed technician.
