Dishwasher does not drain; standing water remains in tank and E2 is displayed

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and ensure the unit is cool before accessing internal components.

• 1. Clean internal filters: Open the door and remove the lower rack. Lift out the stainless or plastic tank filter and sump strainer. Rinse thoroughly to remove food debris, glass, or labels that may block water flow.
• 2. Inspect drain hose: Trace the drain hose from the dishwasher outlet to the sink drain or floor drain. Check for kinks, pinches, or clogs. Detach the hose at the sink connection and flush it with water to confirm it is clear.
• 3. Check air gap / standpipe: If connected through an air gap or standpipe, remove the cap and clean any buildup that could restrict flow.
• 4. Test drain pump: With power restored, start a drain cycle and listen for the drain pump. A loud humming with no water movement suggests an obstruction in the pump impeller; silence suggests a failed pump or no power.
• 5. Clear pump impeller: Disconnect power again, remove the lower front panel or access cover, and locate the drain pump on the sump. Remove the pump cover and check for broken glass, bones, or foreign objects blocking the impeller. Reassemble carefully.
• When to call a technician: If the pump windings are open or the motor is seized, or if the control board is not sending power to the pump, professional diagnosis and replacement are recommended.
