Possible Causes
Failed flow meter, Blocked flow meter wheel, Wiring issue between flow meter and control, Control board misreading pulses
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and water supply.
- Locate the flow meter: On many Kenmore models, the flow meter is integrated into the water inlet assembly or side fill chamber.
- Inspect for debris: Remove the side panel if necessary and check the flow meter for scale or debris that could block the turbine wheel. Clean gently with water.
- Test wiring: Check the harness from the flow meter to the control board for continuity and secure connections.
- Replace flow meter: If the wheel is damaged or the sensor shows no signal (per tech sheet test), replace the flow meter or the entire inlet assembly that contains it.
If a new flow meter does not clear F12, the main control board may be defective.
