Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and turn off water supply. Be prepared for some water spillage when removing hoses.
- Listen for motor operation: When the unit should be washing, a humming or no sound at all can indicate a seized or failed motor.
- Access the circulation pump: Remove the toe-kick and, if necessary, pull the dishwasher out. The circulation pump is attached to the sump at the bottom center.
- Check for obstructions: Disconnect the pump from the sump and inspect the impeller for broken pieces, glass, or debris. Clear any blockage.
- Test the motor: With the pump removed and disconnected, measure motor winding resistance. An open or shorted reading indicates a bad motor. If the motor hums but won’t start, test/replace the start capacitor (if present).
Reinstall or replace the circulation pump assembly as needed. If F8 persists with a new pump, suspect the control board or wiring harness.
