Possible Causes
Stuck water inlet valve, Faulty float or float switch, Control board not shutting off fill, Siphoning due to improper drain hose installation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately turn off power and shut off the water supply if the dishwasher is overflowing.
- Check water level: Open the door. If water is above the normal level (just below the heating element), manually bail out excess water with a cup and towels.
- Inspect float and switch: Ensure the float moves freely and the float switch clicks when lifted. Clean and replace components as needed.
- Test inlet valve: With power off, disconnect the inlet valve wiring. If water continues to flow into the tub with the valve de-energized, the valve is stuck open and must be replaced.
- Verify drain hose routing: Ensure the drain hose has a proper high loop or air gap to prevent backflow from the sink or disposer into the dishwasher.
After correcting the cause, dry any water from the base pan and reset the unit by disconnecting power for several minutes.
