Possible Causes

Control lock (child lock) enabled, door not fully latched, failed door switch, unresponsive control panel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Do not attempt internal repairs with power on.

Basic checks:

  • Ensure the door is fully closed and latched; listen for a click.
  • Check if the Control Lock indicator is lit; if so, press and hold the designated lock key (often 3–5 seconds) to unlock.
  • Try a different cycle and press Start within 4 seconds of closing the door (per KitchenAid instructions).

If still no start:

  • Turn off power, then inspect the door latch and switch as in F5E1/F5E2.
  • If the latch and switch are good, the user interface or main control may be faulty and require replacement.
