Possible Causes
Moisture intrusion into user interface, worn or damaged touchpad membrane, loose ribbon cable between UI and control, contamination (soap/grease) under buttons
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the door panel.
Try a soft reset:
- Turn off power for 2–3 minutes, then restore power and test the panel.
- If the same keys are still unresponsive or the code returns, proceed with inspection.
Inspect the user interface (UI):
- Open the door and remove the screws around the inner door panel to access the UI board and keypad.
- Check the ribbon cable between the UI and main control for corrosion, kinks, or loose connections. Reseat the cable firmly.
- Look for signs of moisture or detergent residue on the UI board. If present, gently clean with a dry cloth and allow to air dry completely.
- If keys feel physically stuck or the membrane is bubbled or cracked, the UI assembly should be replaced.
Replacement:
- Order the correct KitchenAid dishwasher user interface/control panel by model number.
- Transfer any brackets or trim from the old panel to the new one, reconnect the ribbon cable, and reassemble the door.
