Possible Causes
Improper drain hose installation causing siphon, stuck drain pump relay on control board, drain pump stuck on due to wiring short
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off power before working under the sink or on wiring.
Check drain hose:
- Verify the hose is not routed downward from the dishwasher to the drain without a high loop.
- Secure the hose to the underside of the countertop or use an air gap as per KitchenAid instructions.
Listen for drain pump:
- Start a cycle and listen: if the drain pump runs continuously even when the unit should be washing, the pump relay or wiring may be stuck.
Corrective action:
- If hose routing is correct and the pump still runs at the wrong time, the main control board or wiring harness likely needs professional diagnosis and replacement.
