Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately turn off power at the breaker and close the water supply valve to prevent flooding.
- Manually remove excess water: Open the door and use a cup or container to bail out water into a bucket. Use towels or a sponge to remove remaining water from the tub and base.
- Check inlet valve operation: With water supply still OFF, disconnect the inlet hose at the dishwasher and place it in a bucket. Briefly turn the water supply ON. If water flows continuously into the dishwasher even with power off, the water inlet valve is mechanically stuck open and must be replaced.
- Inspect for leaks into base: Pull the unit out and check the base pan for water. Dry completely and look for signs of continuous filling or leaks.
- Reset and test: After replacing a faulty inlet valve, restore power and water, then run a short cycle while monitoring the fill level. The water should stop below the bottom of the door opening.
If FE returns with a new valve, the flow meter or pressure sensor (depending on model) may be misreading the water level, or the main control board may be defective. These components typically require professional testing and replacement.
