Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the power at the breaker and close the water supply valve before inspection.
- Verify household water supply: Make sure the under-sink shutoff valve feeding the dishwasher is fully open. Check that other faucets in the home have normal pressure.
- Inspect inlet hose: Pull the dishwasher slightly out and inspect the inlet hose for kinks or sharp bends. Straighten or reroute as needed.
- Clean inlet filter screen: Turn off water, disconnect the inlet hose from the dishwasher. At the connection point on the water inlet valve, remove and rinse the small metal or plastic filter screen under running water to remove sediment. Reinstall the screen and reconnect the hose securely.
- Test fill: Restore water and power, then start a quick cycle. Listen for the sound of water entering. If you still get IE and no water sound, the water inlet valve coil may be defective and should be replaced.
If water fills briefly and then stops, a faulty flow meter or pressure sensor on some LG models may be misreading the fill level and will require professional diagnosis.
