Possible Causes
Open or shorted thermistor, Loose thermistor connection, Damaged wiring harness to sensor, Faulty main PCB temperature circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before accessing internal components.
- Locate thermistor: On most LG dishwashers, the thermistor is mounted in or near the sump assembly at the bottom of the tub.
- Inspect connector: Remove the lower front panel or pull the unit out to access the sump. Check the thermistor connector for corrosion, moisture, or loose fit. Dry and reseat the connector firmly.
- Check wiring: Follow the harness from the thermistor to the main control board. Look for pinched, cut, or burned wires and repair as needed.
- Test thermistor: With a multimeter, measure resistance across the thermistor at room temperature. Compare to LG specifications (commonly in the tens of kΩ range). If the reading is open, shorted, or far out of spec, replace the thermistor.
If a new thermistor does not clear TE, the main PCB may have a defective temperature sensing circuit and should be replaced.
