Possible Causes
Door not fully closed, Failed door latch switch, Unresponsive Start button, Control lock (child lock) enabled
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power before testing switches.
Steps:
- Check control lock: On many Maytag models, press and hold the Control Lock or Heated Dry button for 3–5 seconds to toggle the lock off.
- Ensure proper closure: Push racks fully in and remove any items blocking the door. Close firmly until you hear a click.
- Test door latch: If the control shows door open or will not start, test the door latch switch for continuity when closed. Replace the latch assembly if defective.
- UI test: Enter diagnostic mode (per tech sheet) to test the Start key. If unresponsive, the user interface panel may need replacement.
