Safety First: Turn off power at the breaker before working on the door.

Steps:

• Check door closure: Ensure racks are fully pushed in and nothing is obstructing the door. Close the door firmly and listen for a solid click.
• Inspect strike and latch: Open the door and inspect the metal strike on the tub frame and the latch mechanism in the door. Look for bending, cracks, or wear.
• Adjust strike: Slightly loosen the screws holding the strike and adjust its position so the latch engages fully when the door closes, then retighten.
• Access latch assembly: Remove inner door screws to access the latch. Check wiring connections and test the door switch for continuity when engaged.
• Replace latch: If the latch is broken or the switch tests open when closed, replace the door latch assembly with the correct Maytag part.
