Possible Causes
Clogged inlet valve screen, Failed water inlet valve coil, Low household water pressure, Kinked or closed supply line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off power and shut off the dishwasher water supply valve under the sink.
Steps:
- Verify water supply: Confirm the shutoff valve is fully open and the supply hose is not kinked.
- Clean inlet screen: Remove the lower access panel. Disconnect the water line from the inlet valve and inspect the valve screen for sediment. Clean gently with a small brush.
- Check for fill sound: Restore power and start a cycle. Listen for the valve humming and water entering. If silent, the valve may not be energized or is failed.
- Test valve coil: With power off, disconnect the valve wires and measure coil resistance. An open circuit indicates a bad valve.
- Replace inlet valve: If the valve is defective or heavily clogged, replace the water inlet valve with the correct Maytag part. Use Teflon tape on threaded fittings and check for leaks after installation.
