Possible Causes

Misaligned door latch, Worn or broken door switch, Damaged door hinge or catch, Faulty wiring to door interlock

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch off and lock out power before adjusting door components.

  • Inspect door closure: Check that the door closes evenly and fully. Look for bent hinges, damaged gaskets, or obstructions preventing full closure.
  • Check door latch and strike: Examine the latch mechanism and strike plate. Tighten loose screws and adjust the strike so that the latch engages firmly when the door is closed.
  • Test door switch: Access the door interlock assembly (usually behind the front panel). With a multimeter, test continuity of the switch when the latch is engaged. Replace the door switch assembly if it does not change state reliably.
  • Inspect wiring harness: Follow the harness from the door switch to the control board. Look for broken conductors at the hinge area, loose connectors, or signs of moisture ingress. Repair or replace as needed.
  • Reset and test: After adjustments and replacements, restore power and close the door firmly. Start a cycle to confirm that E7 is cleared.
