Possible Causes
Clogged drain filter, Blocked drain hose, Faulty drain pump, Blocked sink trap connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher and turn off the water supply before opening any panels.
- Clean the sump filter: Open the door, remove the lower rack, twist and lift out the coarse and fine filters in the bottom. Rinse thoroughly and remove any food debris or glass from the sump area.
- Check for obstructions: Shine a torch into the drain opening and carefully remove any foreign objects that may block the impeller.
- Inspect the drain hose: Follow the hose from the dishwasher to the sink trap or standpipe. Ensure it is not kinked or crushed. Detach it at the sink trap and flush it with water to clear grease or sludge.
- Check sink trap spigot: If recently installed to a new sink trap, ensure the plastic knockout plug in the dishwasher spigot has been removed.
- Test the pump: Reassemble, restore power, and run a drain or cancel program. If the pump hums but does not move water, or is silent, the drain pump is likely defective and should be replaced.
