Possible Causes
Burnt-out integrated heater element, Internal leak in heater housing, Loose or burnt heater connectors, Faulty circulation pump/heater assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and water. Be prepared for residual water in the base when removing components.
E09 is a common Neff error indicating a failure of the heating element, usually integrated into the circulation pump.
- Confirm no heating: Run a hot program and open the door after 15–20 minutes. If the water is cold and E09 appears, proceed.
- Access circulation pump: Remove the dishwasher from the cabinet and take off the base panel. Locate the circulation pump with integrated heater.
- Check wiring: Inspect the heater terminals and wiring for burning or loose connections. Reseat connectors.
- Measure heater: Disconnect the heater terminals and measure resistance with a multimeter. An open circuit indicates a failed heater.
- Replace assembly: On most Neff models, the heater is not separately replaceable; you must replace the entire Neff circulation pump / heater assembly. Transfer any seals and clamps as per service instructions.
- Leak check: After reassembly, run a short cycle and inspect the base for leaks before pushing the dishwasher back into the cabinet.
