Dishwasher fills with water but does not wash; spray arms do not move

Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher and close the water tap before accessing the base.

• Check spray arms: Remove and clean upper and lower spray arms. Rinse out any food particles or limescale from the jets.
• Clean filters and sump: Ensure the sump area is free of debris that could block the pump inlet.
• Listen for pump: During a wash phase, you should hear a strong spraying noise. A low hum with no spray indicates a jammed or failed pump.
• Access pump: Remove the base panel and inspect the circulation pump. Check for leaks, burnt smell, or seized impeller.
• Replace pump or capacitor: If the impeller is free but the motor does not start, the start capacitor or pump motor may need replacement.
