Possible Causes
Leak into base tray activating float switch, Overfilling due to faulty inlet valve, Blocked pressure chamber or pressure hose, Cracked tub or hose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance immediately and close the water tap. Do not continue to run the dishwasher until the leak source is identified.
- Check for visible leaks: Look around the sides and under the door for water. Remove the toe-kick panel and inspect the base tray for standing water.
- Dry the base tray: Tilt the dishwasher carefully forward (with help) to allow water to drain from the base tray onto towels. This may temporarily clear the E4 error but does not fix the underlying leak.
- Inspect hoses and clamps: With the machine pulled out, check the inlet hose, drain hose, circulation pump hoses, and sump-to-tub seal for drips or mineral tracks.
- Check detergent use: Over-foaming from regular dish soap can cause overflow. Ensure only dishwasher tablets or powder are used and in correct quantity.
- If leak source is not obvious: The pressure system or tub may be compromised. Continued use can cause water damage; contact a qualified technician for a full leak test and component replacement.
