Possible Causes
Clogged drain filter, Blocked drain hose, Obstructed air gap or sink connection, Failed drain pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing internal components. Water may be hot.
- Clean filter: Open the door, remove the lower rack, and take out the Samsung filter assembly from the sump. Rinse thoroughly to remove food debris and grease.
- Check drain hose: Inspect the drain hose behind the dishwasher for kinks or crushing. Detach from the sink or garbage disposal and flush with water to clear blockages.
- Inspect air gap (if installed): Remove the air gap cap on the sink and clean out any debris.
- Check garbage disposal knockout: If recently installed, ensure the knockout plug in the disposal’s dishwasher inlet was removed.
- Test drain pump: Remove the lower access panel, locate the drain pump, and check for obstructions in the impeller. If the pump hums but does not move water, or is silent and tests open with a multimeter, replace the drain pump.
