Possible Causes

Faulty turbidity sensor, Dirty sensor window in sump, Damaged wiring harness to sensor, Control board sensor input fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the sump area.

  • Clean the sump and filters: Remove the lower basket and filters. Clean the sump thoroughly to remove grease and food particles that may cover the Sharp turbidity sensor window.
  • Access the sensor: From inside the tub or from the base (depending on model), locate the turbidity sensor mounted on the side of the sump. Gently clean the clear plastic lens with a soft cloth.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the connector and wiring harness to the sensor for corrosion or loose pins. Reseat the connector firmly.
  • Run a test cycle: Restore power and run a rinse program. If E6 reappears, the sensor itself may be defective.
  • Replacement: Replace the turbidity sensor with a Sharp-compatible part. If the error persists even with a new sensor, the main control board may require service.
