Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing panels or touching wiring.
E02 usually indicates a problem with the temperature sensor (NTC) in the sump or heat exchanger.
- Step 1 – Power reset:
- Turn off power for 5 minutes and retry a cycle. If E02 reappears, continue.
- Step 2 – Access the NTC:
- Remove the lower kick plate and side panels if necessary (varies by model).
- Locate the NTC sensor in the sump area or integrated into the heat exchanger on the left side.
- Step 3 – Visual and connection check:
- Inspect the NTC connector for corrosion or moisture.
- Unplug and replug the connector several times to clean contacts.
- Check the wiring harness for damage or rodent bites.
- Step 4 – Resistance test (for trained users):
- Disconnect the NTC from the harness.
- Measure resistance with a multimeter at room temperature; typical NTC values are in the 10–60 kΩ range (check service data if available).
- If reading is open (infinite) or near 0 Ω, the sensor is defective.
- Step 5 – Replacement:
- Twist or unclip the NTC from its housing in the sump or heat exchanger.
- Install the new Siemens NTC sensor, ensuring the sealing O-ring is properly seated to prevent leaks.
- Reconnect wiring and reassemble panels.
If E02 persists with a known-good NTC, the control board's sensor input may be faulty and require replacement.
