Dishwasher does not drain and shows E23; water remains in the bottom of the tub.

Safety first: Disconnect power and be prepared for water spillage when accessing the pump.

E23 indicates a problem with the drain pump.

• Step 1 – Check for simple blockages:
  • Remove and clean the filters.
  • Look into the sump for foreign objects near the drain pump inlet.
• Step 2 – Access drain pump:
  • Pull the dishwasher out and lay it on its back.
  • Remove the base cover.
  • Locate the drain pump (small pump connected to the drain hose).
• Step 3 – Inspect impeller:
  • Remove the pump from the sump by twisting/unclipping.
  • Check the impeller for obstructions and ensure it spins freely.
• Step 4 – Electrical test (for trained users):
  • Measure resistance of the pump coil; an open circuit indicates a failed pump.
• Step 5 – Replacement:
  • If the pump is seized or electrically open, replace it with the correct Siemens drain pump.

After replacement, ensure the drain hose is not kinked and that the standpipe or sink connection is clear.
