Dishwasher shows E25; drain pump makes a grinding noise or does not pump out water.

Safety first: Disconnect power and remove as much water as possible from the sump with a sponge.

E25 often indicates a blockage directly at the drain pump inlet.

• Step 1 – Access pump from inside:
  • Remove the filter assembly.
  • Locate the small plastic cover over the drain pump inlet in the sump.
  • Twist and remove this cover.
• Step 2 – Clear obstruction:
  • Reach into the pump cavity and feel for foreign objects (glass, bones, food).
  • Remove any debris carefully.
  • Check that the impeller can spin freely.
• Step 3 – Refit cover:
  • Reinstall the pump cover correctly; if it is not seated, E25 can recur.
• Step 4 – Test:
  • Reinstall filters and run a drain or short program to confirm proper operation.

If the pump is noisy or does not spin freely even after clearing debris, the drain pump may need replacement.
